NORTHERN IRELAND BUSINESS & INNOVATION CENTRE (NORIBIC)
PROJECT TITLE: b2b connect

The b2b connect programme managed by NORIBIC, the Northern Ireland Business and Innovation Centre, provides hands on support for local companies to establish mutually profitable business alliances with global partners. The programme is open to Northern Ireland companies interested in developing global opportunities by building strategic alliances and links with other businesses.

Through the programme an experienced mentor will be assigned to each company and will work closely with the company to proactively seek out opportunities for growth. This might include new product licensing, exporting, identification of best practice, establishing joint venture opportunities or technology transfer opportunities into and out of Northern Ireland.

NORIBIC is a full member of the European Business and Innovation Centre Network (EBN) comprising over 160 BICs across the EU and in the new transition countries of Eastern Europe. The b2b connect programme uses this network to help companies to develop European business contacts. The main objective of the programme is to help local companies identify global opportunities which will provide them with competitive advantage.

PUBLIC ACHIEVEMENT
PROJECT TITLE: Young Citizens in Changing Societies

Public Achievement recognises the creative capacity of individuals of all ages to actively participate in the civic life of their communities and in the building of a more just, peaceful, democratic and pluralist society.
.This is done by supporting small groups of young people - and adult volunteer 'coaches' who work with them - in addressing issues that are important and around which they design, carry out and evaluate their own projects. In the process, they learn skills of active citizenship and democracy.

'Young Citizens in changing Societies' aims to develop an international programme, which will result in the establishment of best practice methods in civic youth work in Northern Ireland. The project will help young people and youth workers from Northern Ireland to develop active collaborative relationships with their counterparts in the Balkans, Turkey, The Middle East, South Africa and the United States. They will learn about citizenship in different contexts and the contribution of young people to the civic life of their communities, particularly in communities that face or are emerging from ongoing conflict. The project will look for indigenous approaches to situations of conflict and controversy, and the fulfilment of young people's capacity to make serious civic contributions to the building of democracy in their communities.
